Andrew Brooks, an officer with the Middletown Police Department, responded to a home on Thursday after authorities received a call from a man who said he was “having a rough week,” WVIT-TV reported.

When officers arrived at the residence, the man, who was living alone, told police he was hungry but did not know what to cook and did not want to, the Middletown Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

“There is no such thing as a ‘routine’ call for service on this job!” the police department wrote.

Brooks quickly took charge and took over the man’s kitchen, improvising and whipping up some eggs for the hungry man, WVIT reported.

“Sometimes a hot meal and someone to talk to is all it takes to lift someone’s spirits and change their perception on things,” police wrote on Facebook.
