TACOMA, Wash. — The glass in a couple of doors was found shattered in a Washington building as suspects unsuccessfully tried to steal an ATM machine, police say.
According to a news release from the Tacoma Police Department, on Thanksgiving Day around 10:30 a.m. officers were called out to a building near 1100 A Street about a possible burglary. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the door was shattered.
According to KIRO, once the officers got inside the building, they noticed that the suspects had tried to steal the ATM but failed to do so.
In photos from TPD, it shows the suspects had wrapped a tow strap around the ATM in an attempt to pull it out of the building, according to KIRO. The ATM remained where it was and was still plugged in.
According to TPD, the property manager had contacted them to thank them for responding and for the dedication that the officers showed in helping to make sure that their building was secure.
No further information has been released, including if the suspects have been arrested or not.
