According to a news release, officers encountered a commercial tractor trailer en route from Mexico on Oct. 9, and inspection revealed 468 packages of suspected meth weighing nearly 1,780 pounds concealed within the trailer.

Officers, who seized the narcotics and the trailer, estimated the value of the meth to be $16,512,400, the agency stated.

“This massive load of methamphetamine will not reach our city streets thanks to our CBP officers and their great teamwork and utilization of all available tools and resources,” Carlos Rodriguez, director of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, stated.
