In a news release, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Kristin M. Bellinger turned herself in for an arrest on rape charges. Detectives allege that she had sex with the teen over “a period of time in 2019.”

Bellinger worked as a special education teacher with the Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery (BOCES) District, WTEN reported. In a statement to the station, the district’s superintendent said the alleged victim reported the allegations to the school, which immediately contacted police, the student’s family, and officials with the state education department. In its statement, the district said Bellinger was placed on leave and was no longer working for the district.

Investigators told WRGB that Bellinger was providing in-home tutoring to the alleged victim, outside of her role at the school.

Following her arrest, Bellinger was released on $15,000 bond, and is scheduled to return to court at a later date, deputies said in a news release.
