LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — An Alabama man who gained national notoriety for having an alleged “attack squirrel,” appeared in court Monday.
In June 2019, Mickey Paulk was arrested after investigators say he fed his squirrel amphetamines, led police on a chase, and rammed an investigator’s car, as we previously reported.
Paulk was supposed to have a bench trial, but the trial was continued because Paulk’s attorney was not in court, WAFF reported.
Paulk now faces new charges. WHNT reports that court documents show Paulk was arrested just before Christmas and is facing new drug-related charges.
Paulk had allegedly kept his “attack squirrel,” which he had named “Deeznutz” inside his apartment prior to his first arrest. It is illegal to own a squirrel as a pet in Alabama, and so the animal was set free, as we previously reported.
