Larry Dinwiddie was sentenced this week after he entered a guilty plea for second-degree murder in November for the death of his wife, Cynthia Dinwiddie’s death, KYTV reported.

He had also been charged with abandoning a corpse, but that charge was dropped as part of a plea deal.

Investigators said Larry Dinwiddie put his wife’s body in a freezer in a storage unit in 2015. The storage unit became abandoned and in November 2019, the freezer and Cynthia Dinwiddie’s body were discovered.

The freezer had been locked and was still running when it was found, KYTV reported.

A worker at the storage facility cut a lock off the freezer, the Marshfield Mail reported.

Investigators said Cynthia Dinwiddie was a victim of domestic violence. Larry Dinwiddie said he hit his wife with a hammer during an argument after she had thrown one at him, the Webster County Sheriff said. Larry Dinwiddie said he “hit her with everything he could” with the hammer in the face before he strangled her, killing her, the Marshfield Mail reported.

He said he didn’t know what to do with her body, so he put her in the freezer at the place where they fought. Eventually, he sought help from his friends to move the appliance to the storage unit, without them knowing what was inside, according to the newspaper.
