According to the Nashville Metro Police Department, Devaunte L. Hill, 21, was arrested Friday and charged with criminal homicide in the death of Caitlyn Kaufman, WZTV reported. Hill was arrested at his apartment in East Nashville, the television station reported.

Kaufman, 26, who worked at the ICU at Saint Thomas West Hospital, was killed when she was shot Dec. 3 as she was driving to work in her SUV, The Tennessean reported. Police said Kaufman was hit with at least six rounds of bullets while she was driving on Interstate 440, WZTV reported. According to the medical examiner, Kaufman was killed within 15 seconds, the television station reported.

According to an arrest affidavit, on Thursday a person told police they had information about the killing and identified Hill as the person who shot Kaufman, the newspaper reported. That person also told police about the possible whereabouts of the gun used in the shooting, the affidavit stated.

Hill reportedly admitted to investigators his involvement in the shooting WSMV reported.

“Hill was brought into police headquarters where he was interviewed by homicide unit detectives Chris Dickerson and Jefferson Hughes, and without going into detail, which I cannot do at this point, he gave a statement implicating himself in Caitlyn’s murder,” Police Chief John Drake said during a news conference.

No other suspects have been named in the case, Drake said. However, Dickerson told reporters that investigators had not ruled out the possibility of more suspects or arrests.

Kaufman’s mother, Diane Kaufman, said her family “will forever be grateful” to community members and law enforcement officers who helped out in the case.

“I have a gamut of emotions right now, but I’m so relieved,” Diane Kaufman told The Tennessean by phone late Friday morning. “A part of me is so relieved they got him. I just get chills every time I think about it.”
