Alexis Tiara Brooks, 47, of Sweetwater, was charged with bribery of a public servant, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

Monroe County corrections officer Samantha Hamilton said she was approached by Brooks during a dinner session, The Advocate and Democrat of Madisonville reported.

Brooks, who was originally arrested Nov. 22, 2020, on charges of shoplifting and criminal trespass and was jailed again on Dec. 9 for violation of patrol, allegedly told Hamilton that she knew officers “could always use more money” and that she “had ties,” the newspaper reported.

According to Hamilton, Brooks said the officer was “hot right now” and was being watched, adding that when she was no longer being watched, “they could get it started.”

According to the Advocate and Democrat, Hamilton asked Brooks if she was referring to bringing contraband into the jail. When Brooks allegedly said she was, Hamilton reported the incident to her superior, the newspaper reported.
