‘Wheelie Queen’ dirt biker featured in HBO Max’s ‘Charm City Kings’ accused of killing girlfriend

BALTIMORE — A famed Baltimore dirt bike rider who gained national attention as a female cast member of HBO Max’s “Charm City Kings” had been accused of stabbing her girlfriend to death on New Year’s Day.

Lakeyria Doughty, 26, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, both first- and second-degree assault and assault with a deadly weapon in the Jan. 1 killing of Tiffany Wilson.

Wilson, a 33-year-old chef, is the first homicide victim of 2021 in Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Sun.

A criminal complaint in the case shows that Baltimore officers were called around 4:15 a.m. Friday to Wilson’s apartment in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of the city, where they found Wilson lying in the upstairs kitchen.

She had a stab wound to the left side of her chest, near her armpit, the affidavit states. Though police and paramedics rendered first aid, Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Investigation revealed evidence of a physical altercation throughout the apartment, which included displaced furniture, scuff marks on the walls and hair and jewelry consistent with having been forcefully removed from a person during an assault,” a Baltimore officer wrote in the document.

Blood was found throughout the kitchen where Wilson died, as well as on a large knife at the scene, authorities said. There were signs of forced entry into the apartment.

The officers also found Doughty, known as the “Wheelie Queen,” covered in blood, the affidavit states.

Doughty told detectives she arrived at the apartment to check on Wilson and found her “already lying on the floor, suffering from a stab wound and holding a knife.” She said she took the knife and threw it in the kitchen sink.

“During the course of the investigation, a 911 call was located which had been placed by Lakeyria Doughty,” according to the document. “In the 911 call, Doughty stated that they were having an argument when the victim produced a knife and stabbed herself.

“Additionally, on the 911 call, the victim could be heard gasping and Doughty attempt(ing) CPR, indicating the stabbing had just occurred.”

Investigators for the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner went to the scene, where they examined Wilson’s body.

“The injury appeared inconsistent with a self-inflicted wound, contradicting Ms. Doughty’s statement to the first responding officers on the scene,” the affidavit states.

Doughty was taken to the police department, where she gave a statement in which she said she and Wilson had not had any arguments — apparently contradicting what she’d said in the 911 call — and that their relationship was good.

Text messages found on her phone “paint a very disturbing picture,” a detective wrote in the criminal complaint.

Wilson’s texts to Doughty showed that she tried for days to break up with the dirt bike rider, demanding her apartment keys back.

“The victim repeated this comment over and over in the text messages for Ms. Doughty to leave her alone and to meet the next day to get the key back,” the affidavit states.

Wilson’s family also told detectives the couple had a history of domestic violence, with multiple assaults that took place over the course of their relationship.

Doughty’s clothes, including a tan jacket, jeans and tan sneakers, were stained with blood, according to the affidavit.

“(The blood evidence) contradicted her statement that the victim had been lying on the floor at the time Ms. Doughty got to the dwelling and found (Wilson) to be suffering from a stab wound,” the document states.

On Monday, Doughty’s defense attorney argued that a judge should release the actress, pointing to Doughty’s attempts to save Wilson’s life by doing CPR and calling 911.

“My client’s position is, ‘I didn’t do anything wrong. That this was a self-inflicted wound. I tried to save her,’” attorney Andrea Jaskulsky said, according to the Sun.

The judge refused, ordering Doughty held without bail. He said, however, that he’d reconsider in coming days whether the defendant should be released on house arrest due to the coronavirus pandemic.

All jury trials in Maryland have been put on hold due to the health crisis.

The Sun reported that Doughty, a Baltimore native, was regarded as a pioneer for becoming the first female in the all-male dirt bike crew, the 12 O’Clock Boys. She told the newspaper in a 2014 profile that she hoped to set a positive example for the city’s young people.

“People underestimate people, and I feel as though they shouldn’t do that,” she told the paper. “You should never let nobody tell you (that) you can’t do something. I just want to get it out there: I’m a girl, and I’m doing everything you doing.”

Doughty’s status in the Baltimore dirt bike circuit led to her appearance in “Charm City Kings.” The film premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize for Ensemble Acting.

“In the film, Mouse (Di’Allo Winston) desperately wants to join The Midnight Clique, an infamous group of Baltimore dirt bike riders who rule the summertime streets,” a description from WarnerMedia states. “When Midnight’s leader, Blax (Meek Mill), takes 14-year-old Mouse under his wing, Mouse soon finds himself torn between the straight-and-narrow and a road filled with fast money and violence.”

The film debuted on HBO Max in October.
