The San Antonio Japanese Tea Garden, commonly known as “Sunken Gardens” in Brackenridge Park dates back to the early 20th Century. Built from a lime rock quarry first used by German masons in the mid 1800′s, the site had provided stone for many San Antonio buildings, including the Menger Hotel. A nationally recognized historic site, the garden was renovated from 2009 to 2011 and remains a beautiful spot to visit for both residents and tourists alike.
