The Tower of the Americas began construction August 9, 1966 as the theme structure for the 1968 World’s Fair (HemisFair ’68) in San Antonio.

It stands 750 tall from it’s base to the top of the antenna and was the tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 until 1996, when the Las Vegas Stratosphere was completed. The Tower is the tallest building in San Antonio and the 30th tallest building in Texas.

The Tower has both and indoor and outdoor observation level as well as a revolving restaurant.
